Affligem, 12 March 2026 – Trends Business Information, together with partner Sentometrics, has won the IvKM Credit Management Innovation Award 2026. The award was presented during Credit Expo Belgium, the annual event for credit management professionals in Belgium, which welcomed a record number of participants this year.
The award-winning innovation is the AI Media Scan, which was integrated into the Trends Pro platform of Trends Business Information in collaboration with Sentometrics. The solution links news articles to the enterprise numbers of Belgian companies and analyses them using artificial intelligence for themes and sentiment. In this way, signals from current events are translated into early indicators of credit risks
Insights from news data are combined with reliable business information such as financial data, credit advice, bankruptcy prediction, and legal events. This enables credit analysts to gain a better understanding of the financial health and evolution of companies.
The technology is based on academic research at Ghent University and VUB under the leadership of Prof. Kris Boudt and was developed together with Trends Business Information into a scalable solution for the daily monitoring of business risks.
According to the jury of the Institute for Credit Management (IvKM), the solution contributes to a new way of risk assessment, in which traditional financial analysis is complemented by real-time external signals from current events.
